Bali Turtle Island
Denpasar City Government targeting to restore the image of Serangan Island as a turtle island. This is also related to the Denpasar city government plans to make the Serangan island one of the marine tourism area.
Environment Agency Head of Denpasar, Anak Agung Sudarsana said on his testimony on the island, Friday (13/11) declared as an effort to restore the Serangan island as turtle island is by sea turtle conservation on the island.
One of the early stages of a way to bring about 500 Tukik or children of green turtles from Banyuwangi to increase diversity in the island’s turtle.
According to Sudarsana, the Government of Denpasar City also is planning the rehabilitation efforts of the turtle habitat on the island before the attack suffered damage from coastal reclamation projects.
“The last we’ve been doing rehab, so that the turtle population returned to normal on this island, we also expect the government organizations,” said Anak Agung Sudarsana.
Based virgin Resort Natural Resources Office (KSDA) City of Denpasar on the Island of the Serangan turtle population is predicted only about 200 turtles. In year 1970 when the turtle population in the area of the Serangan island in the tens of millions tails so that the island was given the nickname of turtle Island.
